How They Work The healing properties of the Hopi EarCandle has its foundation in two primary physical actions. Firstly, the slight under pressure (the chimney effect) inside the EarCandle and the vibration of the rising air column serve to gently massage the ear drum and promote secretion in the frontal and paranasal sinuses. This has an immediate subjective effect of regulating ear pressure. Users often describe a soothing, light sensation in the ear/head area. Secondly, the locally applied warmth stimulates vascularization. This invigorates the immune system and reinforces the flow of lymph. At the same time, important acupuncture points and reflex zones are stimulated. What happens during treatment? The Treatment The Client lies on a couch, fully clothed on their side, and the 'Candle' a hollow tube made of beeswax and with a beautiful honeyed herbal aroma is lit and gently placed in the ear. A light vacuum or suction is created as the candle burns. The sensation is very relaxing and the whispering, slightly crackling sound of the flame gently massages your ear and your senses. And a gentle and very pleasant warmth is felt there. The therapist's hands holding the candle at all times also warms, heals and protects the area. A head massage and healing follow the candling to complete your treatment. |
